Samsung Is Killing Off AR Doodle and Quick Measure on December 31, 2026

Samsung is shutting down two of its augmented reality apps, AR Doodle and Quick Measure, on December 31, 2026. The news came through quiet changelog updates on the Galaxy Store, not a press release. A third app from the same family, Deco Pic, gets one more year before it's cut too.

Samsung Pulls the Plug on AR Doodle and Quick Measure

Samsung is discontinuing two apps it used to push hard on Galaxy phones: AR Doodle and Quick Measure. Both stop being available for download after December 31, 2026. There was no announcement event for this, just updated changelogs sitting quietly on each app's Galaxy Store page.

What These Apps Actually Did

AR Doodle let you draw in the air using your phone's camera, and the drawing would stay pinned to a face or object as it moved. Some phones let you do this with an S Pen. Quick Measure used the camera, plus a 3D depth sensor on supported models, to estimate the length, width, or distance of real objects without a tape measure.

Both apps started life bundled inside AR Zone, the AR toolkit that came preinstalled on Galaxy phones from One UI 2.1 through One UI 6. When One UI 7 shipped in 2025, Samsung broke AR Zone apart and made AR Doodle and Quick Measure separate Galaxy Store downloads.

Where to Download Them

Worth noting: on some newer One UI builds, Samsung already seems to have hidden both listings from the Galaxy Store, so the link may not show up depending on your device.

What Happens After the Cutoff

Once December 31, 2026 passes, Samsung stops offering new downloads and updates entirely. If you already have either app installed, you can keep using it, but Samsung won't guarantee it keeps working. Future One UI versions, likely starting with the stable release of One UI 9, aren't required to support them, so things could break with no fix coming. Some newer devices, including the Galaxy Z Fold8, already ship without the apps or without support for them.

Deco Pic Isn't Far Behind

According to a Samsung Members service notice, Deco Pic, the third app in this same AR lineup, gets a longer runway. It loses support on December 31, 2027.

Is a Replacement Coming

Samsung has said it's committed to returning with improved versions down the line. No timeline for that has been given yet.

What to Do If You Still Want Them

If either app is useful to you, download it now while the listing is still live. For measuring, ARCore-based measuring apps on the Play Store are a reasonable stand-in. For AR drawing effects, the sticker and filter tools built into most camera apps cover similar ground.
